Marijuana use can lead to an increase in periodontal disease.

Recent studies have shown that recreational use of Marijuana can lead to an increase in periodontal disease. Interestingly, these studies have shown no similar general affects on overall health parameters other than gum disease. The affect of Marijuana on gum disease may be similar to that of tobacco use, which does have negative overall affects on one’s general health. This is unlike many other recreational drugs which have shown not only negative serious medical affects but more very serious affects on overall dental health.
