Invisalign
Recent advances in the field of orthodontics have made it possible for people who need some kind of teeth realignment or correction to have it done in a more comfortable, less conspicuous manner. Invisalign removable teeth aligners can accomplish the same kind of modifications, but in a way that, by discarding old traditional metal brackets and wires is more ‘patient-friendly.’
How Invisalign works
When you visit your East Bay dentists, Drs. Lee or Dr. Kim will make impressions of your teeth, as well as forward your X-rays to their laboratory. The impressions and X-rays are used to help create the first clear set of aligners for you to wear. Your custom aligners will fit firmly over your teeth, but are more comfortable than metal braces. About every two weeks, you will be invited back to our office to exchange your aligner for the next one in the series. With each successive aligner, your teeth continue to move into the proper, desired position.
Because during this alignment process, your Invisalign devices are virtually unnoticeable to observers, you should expect no teasing or joking from friends and relatives. You will, however, feel free to eat and drink whatever you want. You may remove your aligners when it’s time for brushing and flossing. It’s recommended, however, to keep your aligners in at all times other than for brushing and flossing so they have a chance to do their job.
Once your teeth start moving into position, the interval between visits to San Pablo Dental Care will increase. Your progress will be evaluated at each visit. This is another advantage of the Invisalign method – since there are no wires or brackets to adjust, you only have to schedule a visit when it’s time for the next aligner to be used in your treatment plan.
From beginning to end, the entire Invisalign procedure should last no more than 15 months, far less than with traditional braces.
